Influential, innovative, and progressive, Shirty is reinventing a wholly modern approach to fashion. We here at Shirty have redefined luxury for the 21st century. Eclectic, contemporary, and sophisticated too. Shirty products represent the pinnacle of Indian craftsmanship.
We live in the information era. We want to know more, we want to understand more, empathise more, connect more. And nothing brings us more together than hearing backstories. Here’s behind-the-scenes of Shirty. Come help us in putting the Y in “Shirty” | Our Origin.
We are based off a small town in Bengal, barely spanning over an area of 9.4 km2. We here are a sibling duo, the older of us barely out of school. Our town is rather simple and doesn’t have too many services to boast.
E-commerce hasn’t escaped us though, and delivery boys are strewn across the roads. But most of these online purchases are quite limited to the big brands; Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, and the like. Us opening an online clothing platform seemed a childish fetish, a phase that would pass once we “matured”.
We too didn’t believe much in the success of our idea, so we opted for the safest option. One of our parents’ friends owns the biggest clothing store of Suri, but he only sells offline. We were confident of our technical knowledge, and we needed his clout. So, we called him for a chat.
He saw potential and agreed. We found two models, and a decent photographer, and stretched our Photoshop skills.
Our First Model (not bad tbh)

We had a school friend who had become a web developer, so we struck a deal with him. We made social media profiles to promote our content. Naively, we believed that we would just be randomly discovered by customers, who would buy the products and tell their friends, and we’d slowly gain popularity. This was not to be, as we later discovered but before that we ran into a much more significant hurdle.
Our creative freedom felt restricted. We felt we could make more unique designs than those premade at the offline store. We jotted three bullet points for our design motto:
We worked days after days, putting every bit of individual involvement possible. We did the designing, uploading, marketing, packaging, shipping, and customer care. But it paid off. We now have two major business partners, have collaborated with top Indian influencers, have hired several employees, and invested 1300+ hours in this.
Every second of it wasn’t the best, but the exhileration that came with the 1300+ sales made up for it. We felt appreciated, and that’s what counted. It is also what’s keeping us going.
